To help achieve the airport’s vision of delivering a warm, welcoming experience in an extraordinary place, the Operations Security Coordinator provides a safe and efficient airport operation. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local requirements for commercial airports by performing routine and day-to-day efforts of the Operations staff on both the airport’s airside and landside. Ensures compliance with airport, environmental and security-related terminal regulations. Takes corrective action as necessary. Ensures accuracy of reports, manuals and inspections. Acts as liaison between senior level airport management and airport users when senior level staff is unavailable. Is a visible presence representing the County and Airport Administration, providing outstanding customer service to airport users and the broader airport community, including: vendors, concessionaires, airlines, tenants and the general public.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manages ongoing inspection of airfield operations and facilities to ensure compliance with the Airport Certification Manual under Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139 (FAR Part 139) and other applicable federal regulations; interprets and applies all information from FAA Advisory Circulars.
Ensures safety of Airport for aviation users by observing runway, weather, and airfield conditions; issues accurate and timely Airport Condition Reports including but not limited to NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen).
Monitors, coordinates, and performs all snow removal operations; makes strategic decisions based on snowfall; operates heavy equipment for snow removal from all runways, taxiways, apron areas, and customer parking areas; communicates with ATCT and aircraft; conducts runway friction tests.
Implements Wildlife Hazard Management Plan in accordance with FAR Part 139; discourages wildlife by using non-lethal and lethal methods (e.g., pyrotechnics and firearms).
First responder with full responsibility to manage aircraft alerts, emergencies, accidents, and hazardous materials incidents in the capacity of ARFF on scene.
Acts as on scene Incident Commander during emergencies; establishes unified command with fire, law enforcement or medical responders; participates fully in the Incident Command System.
Complies with rigorous ARFF training standards, protocols, and expectations; performs daily inspection of ARFF apparatus and fire compliant personal protective equipment.
Manages terminal operations to ensure efficient flow and safety of the traveling public.
Monitors all access points to secured/SIDA in compliance with 49 CFR Part 1542; ensures daily, mandatory quota of random badge inspections/prohibited items checks; inspects all incoming goods to be provided to the restricted area of the Airport; cooperates with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to implement and maintain Airport Security Program; coordinates and facilitates annual TSA inspection; maintains the security of badging system and multiple safety checks throughout the Airport.
Provides customer service to Airport users and the broader Airport community; inspects terminal for maintenance items and performs minor terminal maintenance repairs; troubleshoots systems.
Ensures fire code adherence via TSA line management; secures terminal by inspecting all access points.
In coordination with law enforcement, paramedics, and TSA, monitors, coordinates, and resolves operational concerns, emergencies, and other unusual situations in the main terminal, on the concourse, and at other Airport facilities.
Manages parking lot operations and parking equipment maintenance or repair.
Coordinates and implements plans for snow emergencies, stranded passengers, and other operational contingencies as they relate to landside, parking, and ground transportation.
Monitors perimeter fence and conducts regular security inspections; monitors access control systems for breaches and maintains proper records for all security inspections and incidents.
Supports the relationship between Pitkin County government and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
