The Aviation Department which operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the North Perry Airport is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Environmental Compliance Specialist for the Aviation Planning Division. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will be responsible for conducting environmental compliance inspections, performing regulatory agency coordination and maintaining permits. Airport environmental projects include: projects and studies related to noise abatement, hazardous waste storage and disposal, storm and wastewater drainage, surface and ground water quality, air quality, wetland mitigation, environmental permitting and related environmental issue projects. Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in environmental sciences, environmental planning or closely related field. Requires two (2) years in environmental/natural resource program compliance or closely related experience. Must be able to obtain/maintain Airport security & customs badging.
MS Environmental, Science, Aviation or Related Field
PhD Environmental, Science, Aviation or Related Field
Professional Engineer, Professional Geologist or other applicable professional license
Project Management experience
Knowledge and/or experience with FAA and Environmental rules/regulations including aviation noise, wetlands, hazardous materials, stormwater, soil/groundwater assessments, air quality
ACI Airport Environmental or other applicable certifications
