This position will assist the VP of Communications in the development and execution of public relations initiatives that support the Airport District’s strategic business plan. These initiatives include but are not limited to media relations, social media, sponsorships, internal communications and special events. •Create comprehensive public relations campaigns to generate maximum earned media coverage for GSP. All campaigns will include both traditional and social media components. •Manage and direct the creation of multi-level social media campaigns •Evaluate story ideas to package and pitch to appropriate media outlets •Manage media inquiries and interview requests •Arrange media interviews for the VP of Communications and other members of the leadership team •Collaborate with the Manager of Customer Service/Community Relations in the development and management of an Airport District Speaker’s Bureau •A complete list of duties is available on the GSP website below.
Education Requirements (Evaluation Factors: Skills, Education, Experience, and Ability)
BA Degree in Communications, Public Relations or a related field or equivalent work experience
Eight years’ work experience in the practice of Public Relations and or communications
Proven track record of designing and executing successful public relations campaigns
Experienced in media relations, experienced spokesperson
Experienced in guiding, directing and motivating subordinates
Demonstrated ability to coach, develop and encourage mutual trust, respect and cooperation among teams
