TBI is currently hiring for 3 Maintenance Supervisors:
Maintenance Supervisor, General: Under general supervision, to assign and supervise the work of contract mechanics engaged in maintaining, repairing and overhauling automotive and other light duty equipment in a high volume shop environment; and to do other work as required. Provides recommendations to department management relative to repair or replacement of light duty vehicles, and oversees a program of maintenance and service of the light duty fleet.
Maintenance Supervisor, Electric: Under general supervision, to assign and supervise electricians installing, maintaining and repairing electrical wiring systems, lighting and equipment; and to do other work as required.
Maintenance Supervisor, Painting: Under general supervision, to assign and supervise the work of painters engaged in applying protective and decorative coatings to structures, equipment and furniture; perform minor asphalt pavement repairs and to do other work as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements may vary per Maintenance Supervisor specialty.
Four years of technical experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledges and abilities.
Education or training that can be directly related to the knowledge and ability requirements may be substituted for up to one year of technical experience at a rate of three semester units for one month of experience and one hour of job related training for one hour of experience.Thorough knowledge of:
Theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines and mechanical components for the maintenance and repair of automobiles and other light duty vehicles.
Methods, materials, tools and equipment of the trade and their use in automotive maintenance and repairs.
Principles and methods used in a program of preventive maintenance.
Principles of effective supervision.
Comprehensive knowledge of techniques and methods of overhauling and repairing automotive equipment and related components.
General knowledge of:
Principles, methods, and practices pertaining to the operation of a large and high volume automotive maintenance and repair shop and garage facility.
Automated time keeping and record retention systems.
Plan, lay out, direct, inspect and instruct mechanical repair work.
Verify diagnosed mechanical defects and estimated repair cost.
Supervise, train, and evaluate employees and perform all employee relations duties relative to subordinates.
Read, understand and interpret written directives with regard to factory letters and bulletins, automotive manuals and memorandums, and division policy and practices.
Prepare and maintain records and reports such as time, vehicle, preventive maintenance, repair orders, field repairs, tow service, and warranties. Become proficient in independently generating and performing input of information on department's automated systems.
Communicate clearly and diplomatically in writing and verbally with user departments, vendors, employees, subordinates, and department management.
Possession or ability to obtain before appointment a valid California Drivers’ License, Class III or higher.
California journeyman’s card or 4 years experience required.
Obtain and maintain security clearance as required by the Airport Security Plan and TSA regulations.
Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing caustic chemicals, cleaning materials, dust and noise. Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions. Walking for extended periods of time is required throughout the course of daily activities.
Operations are dynamic and situations may require immediate attention. This position has high exposure to the public and requires a professional approach and demeanour under all conditions. It also requires a genuine willingness to assist persons with a wide range of requests and needs, including individuals with disabilities.
Normal Working Hours:
The normal working hours for this position will vary by shift. Coverage will be provided on a 24 hours basis.
