Develops, implements, and directs all facets of the Airport Safety Program (SMS) to ensure compliance with standards and specifications mandated by FAA, DOT, EPA, OSHA and other governmental programs related to the Aviation industry. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and managing the day-to-day operations and performance of Airport SMS program. Analyzes, develops, and /or revises existing components of airport Safety Programs. Tracks safety recommendations, hazards, risks, findings, corrective actions, contributing factors and causes to ensure accurate reporting and follow up. Analyzes trends and statistics based upon SMS data and makes recommendations to executive staff as required. Assists in the development of budget and monitors expenditures. Performs other safety-related duties as required.
A Bachelor's Degree in an Aviation or Safety discipline or related field is required.
Four (4) years of full-time paid safety experience at a commercial airport is required.
Demonstrated experience with SMS management or oversight is required.
Accrediation(s) from American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and/or International Airport Management Accrediation Program (AMPAP) preferred but not required.
Experience in managing an Emergency Response Program within an organization is preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge in aviation risk management is preferred.
Experience developing and administrating training is reqired.
Must have strong knowledge of aviation safety as it relates to FAA, DOT, OSHA, etc.
Effective leadership skills are required.
Proficient oral, presentation, and written communication skills including proposals, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals required.
Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills required.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Proficient project-management skills preferred.
Must be able to work non-traditional hours if necessary.
