SALARY: $114,478.00 - $184,950.00 Annually

We are looking for an engineering management professional that has technical, and project management skills who will lead the resources for design, construction, and maintenance of Port facilities. This is an exciting opportunity for the new director, who will be heavily involved with the $2 billion PDX capital improvement program over the next six years.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and maintain critical links with the Port operating areas, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful delivery of Engineering's projects
Exercise considerable judgment and influence in terms of consulting/contracting strategies, resource utilization, safety, financing, and Commission support
Ensure that engineering considerations and perspectives are factored into Port strategic and business planning development
Perform overall management of a staff of approximately 85 employees
Provide leadership of the engineering management team responsible for capital project design and construction valued at $50M - $300M annually
Play a strategic role in the development and delivery of information, including concepts, plans, and critical issues related to high-profile topics with potential significant impact
Address controversial issues utilizing negotiation and consensus building skills with internal and external resources
M.S. in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, or related field) or B.S. with additional 4-6 years professional experience (required)
Licensed professional engineer (required
Minimum of 10 years progressively more responsible experience in Engineering and construction management, including management oversight of complex capital projects
Project management experience with variety of capital construction and equipment
Experience with procurement projects; expertise with alternative construction contracting methods (preferred)
Advanced management expertise leading multi-disciplinary group(s) representing a variety of technical skills or specialties
Experience with laws and policies related to managing personnel, public contracting, capital project financing and environmental issues
Familiarity of Port facilities and operations (desired)
Ability to obtain security badge, at PDX and/or other Port facilities, which may require a background check (required)
Valid driver's license (required)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to build teams; influence/negotiate for resolution of disputes on technical and personnel matters
Ability to effectively work with all client groups and stakeholders
Ability to work in an office environment, with occasional travel to off-site meetings and conferences
Skilled at weighing the short- and long-term implications of alternate engineering solutions when making decisions
