An Assistant CIO for the City of Phoenix is an executive-level technology leader. Candidates must have extensive leadership, strategic planning, technical competencies, and proven collaboration experience. Oversight of operations, leading strategic planning and collaboration with business units are core responsibilities.
This position reports to the Information Technology Services and Aviation Departments’ management teams, and oversees operations of the Aviation Department’s technology environments at Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear Airports.
Responsibilities include working with Aviation Department Executive leadership on annual work plans, oversight of project teams for large, multi-million dollar projects, collaboration with City and regional partners, and management of vendors. The position requires an individual with a business-oriented mindset that can demonstrate the ability to utilize technology to increase airport revenue and improve customer service to Phoenix air travelers and will manage a budget of $18 million and oversee a staff of over 70 IT professionals.
Desired qualifications include:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field
10 or more years in IT and business/industry
Five to seven years of leadership responsibility in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
Extensive experience in managing infrastructure and operations
Demonstrated experience in establishing standard processes and managing performance to achieve key metrics
Attainment of relevant certifications and professional networking via involvement in industry groups
Must reside within the boundaries of the City of Phoenix within 24 months of appointment or promotion.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience supporting information systems in an airport or similar environment
Leadership skills including critical thinking, judgement, and collaboration
Aviation-based technical security, including badge access systems
Project management and leadership of technical teams
Experience supporting Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), GIS, Web-based technologies, Business application support, Application development lifecycle, Parking systems, Technical infrastructure
Additional Salary Information: The hiring range is between $134,857 and $160,000 annually, depending on qualifications.
