Reporting to the Executive Director, the Chief of Planning and Engineering is responsible for high level leadership in conceptualizing, developing, implementing and overseeing all strategic initiatives and teams delivering planning, engineering, construction, environmental and developmental activities for the Department of Port Control at Cleveland Hopkins International and Burke Lakefront Airports.
This experienced professional provides leadership, strategic direction and operational guidance including but limited to; five and ten year Airport Capital Improvement Plan, the Master Plan, AIP funding, project development, project implementation, stakeholder relationships, airfield compliance as it relates to construction, physical developments and safety, environmental, DBE, non-aeronautical development, business development and leadership.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration/management or planning from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree is preferred in engineering, planning, business administration/management
10 years full-time experience performing duties which include challenging and complex engineering projects
Current and valid registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) issued by the state of Ohio, or must acquire within one year of hire
5 years of management experience with direct leadership responsibilities of team
In addition to the required qualifications, the following are preferred:
At least 6 years airport experience, with at least 3 in a senior role at a US Airport with moderate air carrier service, dealing directly with issues related to planning and development. (Preference given for 5 years experience in construction and the management of construction projects.)
AAAE accreditation or IAP desirable, but not required
5 years experience working with FAA and other regulatory agencies − Experience with grant programs and compliance (AIP, PFC’s, etc.) is preferred
