Conducts airport inspections and obtains technical information necessary for the planning and construction of TxDOT airport improvement and maintenance projects. Conducts on site investigations to determine the scope of capital improvement projects. Collects data in support of the FAA’s airport master record. Flies airborne reconnaissance of the surrounding environment to determine the impact of new construction on instrument procedures and flight patterns. Performs takeoffs, landings and taxiing to determine adequacy of pavement condition and to observe completed construction and/or renovations. Work requires the ability to pilot a single engine aircraft in the performance of job duties. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
3 years in inspecting, planning, engineering, design or technical related airport experience.
(Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)
No supervisory experience required.
Related experience and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for education on a year per year basis.
Safety Inpact Certificate.
All flight licenses and certificates must be issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Additionally, must posssess a second-class medical certificate issued under Part 67 of the FAA regulations.
Must have at least 1,000 hours total time as a pilot.
This is a Safety Impact position (either Safety Impact, Commercial Driver and/or Vessel Crew Member) and will be subject to random drug testing.
Travel up to 50% of which 10% could be overnight.
