Are you a Systems Engineer and interested in working in aviation? SFO is seeking a dynamic innovative professional to serve as a Principal Systems Engineer. This position will perform work in Aviation Safety & Security which includes Airport Access Control Systems, Video Management Systems, Physical Security Information Management, and Airport Identity Management Systems. Successful candidate will have a high level of technical knowledge and will be able to complete tasks and projects utilizing creative and strategic methods and practices. Candidate is a goal-oriented individual who is driven and can tackle all objectives in a timely manner and be resourceful as needed. Desired candidate has ability to work in a team environment; ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of Management and End Users; has working knowledge of aviation security systems; has experience with network systems that include multiple integrations; and has excellent written and oral communication skills.
The essential duties and responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to:
Oversees the performance of day-to-day operational support for server, storage or network infrastructures.
Oversees the building, patching, testing (check for compatibility issues, conducts QA) and deployment of systems and platforms meeting the departments’ needs and specifications.
Works with stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and implement changes to infrastructure with the goal of enhancing performance.
Oversees software and operating system upgrades and track system licensing.
Oversees the configuration of security settings or access permissions for groups and individuals.
Evaluates and recommends new technologies, optimize operational efficiency, and troubleshoot problems arising in the infrastructure environments.
Participates in deployment of overall enterprise disaster recovery (DR) strategy.
Provide problem determination, corrective action
Oversees and coordinates the installation, integration, maintenance, customization and enhancement of hardware and software for complex large systems for Aviation Safety & Security Services
Performs large complex systems integration for interoperability over multiple platforms and technologies for Aviation Safety & Security Services
Analyzes, detects, identifies and corrects complex systems and network hardware and software deficiencies
Acts as the liaison between vendors, technical support hot-lines and departments to resolve complex systems or network problems;
Provides problem determination, corrective measures and technical support to user services and functions provided by the system or network
Determines the proper requirements and parameters for the smooth installation and integration of a network hardware and software application
Performs other related duties as assigned.
An associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field]; AND
Five (5) years of experience analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing, and/or maintaining the components of an enterprise network.
Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.
