Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Aviation, this position assists in the daily operation of the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. Duties include ensuring that the Department of Aviation and its' tenants are in compliance with federal, state, local and/or county regulations for the safe and orderly operation of the airport. Position is subject to twenty-four (24) hour work availability, including shift work, weekends, holidays, emergency calls, inclement weather, and special events. This position is considered weather essential personnel.

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management or a related field, with two years of experience at a commercial service airport preferred. NIMS ICS (National Incident Management System Incident Command System) 100, 200, 700, and 800 series training required or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire. American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Certified Member (CM) Airport Certified Employee (Ace), Ace Operations and Security, Airport Security Coordinator certificate, and Private Pilot's License preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License required. Must be able to pass a TSA background check for airport badging.

-Performs daily inspections of airside, landside, and terminal building at the airport to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. -Tests, evaluates, and reports runway conditions to Air Traffic Control during inclement weather. -Have a good understanding of the needs and concerns of the various airport users, including aircraft operators, concessionaires, FBO, and the general public. -Issues notices to airmen (NOTAMs) as required to appropriate agencies through monitoring of airfield conditions and equipment outages. -Responds to and provides guidance and direction during crisis, medical, security, and aircraft alerts. -Coordinates construction and maintenance in, on, or near the airport to ensure minimum interference with airport operations. -Manages snow removal operations during winter weather events. -Assures compliance with all airport policies and procedures; takes corrective and disciplinary actions as required. -Updates and revises forms, letters of agreement, manuals, and policies and procedures used by the airport to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. -Implements, develops and maintains programs as required by local, state, and federal regulations. -Develops, coordinates, and provides training as required by local, state, and federal regulations. -As necessary, provides escorts to authorized personnel and equipment onto the airfield and within both Sterile and Security Identification Display Areas (SIDA). -As necessary, performs airport facility and airfield tours. -Assists Assistant Director of Aviation with studies and projects involving construction, contracts, maintenance, marketing, planning, public relations, purchasing, and other facets of the department. -Alternate Airport Security Coordinator in the absence of the primary Airport Security Coordinator. -Provides guidance when required, including during the absence of the Director of Aviation, Deputy Director of Aviation, and Assistant Director of Aviation to the Department of Aviation Personnel. -Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
-Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, multifunction printers and multiline phone systems. -Excellent oral and written communications, organizational and interpersonal skills. -Skill in using a computer or tablet for data entry, word processing and presentation development. -Skill in using various software packages including Microsoft Office Veoci, Everbridge, PAVER, NOTAM Manager, CCure, Google Earth, andother industry specific software packages. -Skill using hand tools and test and evaluation equipment, including, but not limited to, electronic decelerometers, measuring wheels, wildlife control devices, firearms, and multiple radio systems. -Ability to exercise mental alertness at all times, sound judgment under pressure and in an emergency stressful situation. -Demonstrated writing skills in the drafting and updating of detailed manuals, contract specifications, and reports without extensive editing or close supervision. -Ability to organize and host meetings and presentations both in person and via teleconference or video conference.
