The Public Safety Manager provides overall leadership and vision for the Public Safety Department and plans, organizes, and manages the security, law enforcement & ARFF programs of the Quad City International Airport. Responsibilities include the implementation of programs, procedures, and practices to maintain the safety and security of passengers, employees, airport tenants, the general public, and airport premises and property. The Public Safety Manager maintains the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, preparedness and compliance throughout the Public Safety Department and is responsible for the enforcement of federal, state, and local statutes, ordinances, and regulations.
Education, Experience and/or Training
Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement, Fire Science, Business, or related field; and
10 years of experience in law enforcement, ARFF and/or public safety operations; or
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the
5 years of police, fire, or public safety supervisory experience or leading teams required.
Experience supervising or leading teams in union workforce strongly preferred.
AAAE Certified Member (C.M.) credential highly desirable.
5 years of experience working in Airport Public Safety role highly desirable
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and ability to assume Incident Command responsibilities.
Ability to provide leadership characterized by vision, professionalism, collaboration and accountability.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and present conclusions and recommendations clearly and
Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Required Special Qualifications
Must obtain Airport Security Coordinator certification within 6 months of employment, as a condition of employment
Must have or obtain ICS 100/200/300/400/700/800 certificates with 6 months of hire, as a condition of employment
Ability to pass a post-employment offer physical examination and drug screen
Ability to pass a background investigation to obtain unescorted Airport Identification/ Access
Ability to operate a vehicle and possession of a driver's license valid in the State of Illinois.
