The City of McCall seeks a qualified individual to fill the full-time (40 hour per week) exempt position of Airport Manager. The Airport Manager provides leadership for all airport related activities; fosters a positive atmosphere and relationship with airport users, employees, residents and others who have business with the airport; supervises, manages, plans, organizes, and performs the operations, maintenance, development, and administrative activities of the City Airport.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Applicants for this position must have knowledge of:
Aviation management, including development and implementation of safety programs involving every aspect of airport operations;
Federal, state, county, and local regulations pertaining to airport management and operations;
Airport maintenance and security;
Methods, procedures, and objectives of lease and contract negotiation and management;
Methods and procedures municipal budgeting procedures;
Emergency response procedures related to aircraft accidents and procedures for notification to regulating authorities;
Radio communication procedures and techniques;
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations; and,
Employee supervision and evaluation techniques.
In addition, applicants for this position must have the ability to:
Uphold professional and aviation industry standards and ethics;
Train, assign, motivate, supervise, and evaluate the work of employees;
Negotiate and administer contracts for compliance and completion;
Perform project management duties;
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, customers, users, vendors, other City employees, supervisory personnel, and state and local elected officials;
Manage the operations of a busy general aviation airport, including maintenance of facilities and enforcement of regulations;
Stay current on changing federal, state, county, and local guidelines and regulations pertaining to airport operations;
Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines;
Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity, and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks;
Operate a personal computer using program applications appropriate to assigned duties;
Operate a motor vehicle;
Operate hand tools and power equipment; operate equipment required to maintain airport operations, including snow removal and heavy equipment;
Comply with OSHA requirements in the maintenance of the airport; and,
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with the public and other employee

The City of McCall, Idaho, is located approximately 100 miles north of Boise at the north end of the “Long Valley” in Valley County, Idaho. Situated on the south shore of Payette Lake, McCall serves as the economic hub for the area. The resident population is 2,991 (2010 Census), but the area population swells to over 10,000 in the summer.
While historical economic activities include mining, forestry, agriculture and commerce, currently, recreation and tourism provide the basis for the area’s economy.
