The City of Lynchburg is seeking a dynamic leader who will play a vital role in the day-to-day management of Lynchburg Regional Airport. Under the general supervision of the Airport Director, the Assistant Airport Director - Operations and Maintenance performs complex technical and responsible senior-level management oversight of Lynchburg Regional Airport, and is directly responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, custodial, FAR Part 139 certification, TSA Part 1542 security and related administrative functions of the airport. The selected candidate will act as project director on assigned federal, state and local capital projects and serve as liaison to engineers, inspectors and contractors. The Assistant Airport Director - Operations and Maintenance will also coordinate and assist in the integration of operations and maintenance functions with the airport ARFF and police departments. May also serve as Acting Airport Director in the absence of the Airport Director.
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with major course work in aviation management, business, public administration or related field; commercial service (Part 139) airport experience.
Certified Member (CM) designation with the American Association of Airport Executives, or ability to obtain within two years.
Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) designation with the American Association of Airport Executives preferred.
Snow removal experience preferred.

Lynchburg Regional Airport (LYH) is the primary commercial service airport serving the City of Lynchburg and the four surrounding counties with a service area population of over 264,000. The region hosts a range of international corporations, manufacturing plants, research and development firms and a several colleges and universities. LYH has an operating budget of $2.8 million & a multi-year capital program of some $21 million. Airline service is provided by American Airlines with 14 daily arriving and departing regional jet flights serving Charlotte Douglas International Airport with convenient flight schedules throughout the day. The airport is served by an FAA contract air traffic control tower that last year accommodated a total of 92,112 operations. The airport is also home to the Liberty School of Aeronautics’ flight training operation.
