Two-year College or technical school degree in a related field
Five years' experience in maintenance of which three years must be airfield maintenance experience, and knowledge of FAA rules and regulations
Supervisory experience preferred
Or, any combination of equivalent education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities
Supervises and assigns staff and participates in the maintenance of runways and aircraft maneuvering areas in accordance with FAA requirements; provides assistance to staff regarding services performed and answers questions.
Supervises airfield staff; schedules work, makes recommendations regarding hiring and terminations, authorizes time cards, maintains records, prepares and conducts performance appraisals.
Responsible for comprehensive daily inspection of airfield in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations
Prioritizes, distributes, and supervises daily work assignments to airfield maintenance staff in conformance with FAA requirements; troubleshooting, adjusting or repairing as necessary.
Trains emloyees on airport maintenance and repair procedures and radio communication with air traffic control tower.
Assigns staff, supervises and participates in the maintenance and repairs of airport vehicles, snow removal equipment, and essential aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment. Procures new equipment and modifies existing equipment to meet evolving maintenance requirements.
Acts as the on-site Airport representative when coordinating airfield construction projects with contractors, air traffic control tower, engineers and others.
Ensures that all work and work orders conform to federal, state, county, and department standards and policies and are completed in a timely manner.
Responsible for assigning, directing, and participating in snow removal operations including plowing, sanding, and de-icing tasks.
Coordinates rotating on-call list of employees for emergency situations, snow removal and repairs.
Keeps daily log on airfield activity
Assists the Airport Operations and Maintenance Manager with preperation and presentation to the Airport Director annual budget for airfield activities.
Issues notices to Airmen when conditions warrant.
Assists in the establishment of divisional policies and procedures with the Airport Operations and Maintenance Manager.
Orders material and related suppliers.
Remains on-call twenty-four (24) hours a day for snow removal and other emergency situations.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance, works overtime/extra hours as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
