Job Summary: Wings is looking for a self-starter that needs little to no direction. You must be responsible, attentive to detail, accepts accountability, and willing to learn and take on new opportunities. The operations manager would oversee the day to day operations of the hangar and hangar staff/volunteers on an active airport to include Facility, Drone, and other staff/volunteers as deemed appropriate.
Tasks, Duties, and Major Responsibilities:
Support the Exploration of Flight campus - Chief Operating Officer
Maintain operational oversight of all aircraft movement, including repositioning, that occurs on the Exploration of Flight ramp
Maintain operational oversight of “EoF hosted” events on the flight ramp.
Ramp Safety Manager
Aircraft “Diamond of Safety”
Operational management of the Boeing Blue Sky Aviation Gallery.
Facilities, custodial upkeep
Saturday/Sunday gallery guest management
Front desk management
Support the Wings – EoF Volunteer program which will include:
Work with the Volunteer Manage for application processing
Work with the Volunteer Manager for scheduling
Supervise cash handling procedures and daily reconciliation of Associate banks and deposits. Monitor procedures and use of POS transactions. Work with Visitor Services Director and the CFO’s office to maintain continuity throughout the organization.
Utilize and maintain operation reports (sales, inventory, and traffic etc.)
Accurately ensure process retail sales, exchanges, returns, admissions, memberships, and gift certificates in a timely fashion. Assist in coordinating physical inventory count once a year in accordance with yearly audit requirements.
Occasionally check in groups for tours and give those groups an introduction to the gallery.
Staff and Volunteer Management:
Supervise a Ramp Supervisor (during ramp operations), 2-3 front desk employees, and at least 4 rotating volunteers. Supervise the opening and closing of the front line, shop, and Welcome Center as directed.
Hire, train, coach, inform, and review staff as often as necessary to assure competence and communication. Advising and scheduling the appropriate staff as necessary.
Manage and supervise operation of simulators when needed.
Occasionally give a tour of the museum to groups when short staffed or a docent isn't available to give a tour.
Oversee the daily operations of the store.
Explore new areas of potential for retail products, opportunities, and growth.
Monitor operational procedures for POs, shipping and receiving of merchandise, and invoicing and revise when/if necessary. Help create standard retail operations and processes which all Visitor Associates will adhere to.
Work with the organizations Store Manager to onboard new vendors and products.
Internal Event Management: Internal.
In conjunction with the vision of the COO, the OPS MGR will strive to foster successful events on the campus in accordance with the below:
Provide the best opportunity for the greatest revenue, or
Provide the best opportunity for community relations impact/outreach.
Management of all day-to-day activities and program operations
Manage flight logistics such as aircraft movement, greeting teachers, working with pilots for fueling, cleaning aircraft post-flight, and reminders. Work with Chief Pilot to ensure follow-through of all scheduled aircraft maintenance.
Administer and secure Hangarkeepers waiver to pilots utilizing EoF for extended stays
Adhere to Wings' brand management policies and integrated marketing protocol.
Undertake any other duties or projects of a similar nature as may be required. Weekend and Holiday hours are required due to the nature of this job and facility.
Non-licensed pilots will be required to know how to operate all FAA ATD’ and simulators within 45 days of employment start date. Additionally, the selected candidate will be required to learn the operation of all exhibits within 45 days of employment start date.

About Exploration of Flight (Wings Over the Rockies)
Exploration of Flight (EoF) is a part of the Wings Over the Rockies organization. We are an educational non-profit organization that is building a 15-acre campus on the southside of Centennial Airport. The first building, the Boeing Blue-Sky Aviation Gallery opened in July 2018. Currently, the Colorado Skies Academy charter school is under construction. In the near future, our Black Sky Gallery (dedicated to space exhibits) & Visitor’s Center will start construction.
