General Description and Classification Standards This is a Senior Structural Engineering position that functions as one member of a group of multi-discipline principals.
Provide Structural Engineering review of all development projects proposed for construction on the airport. Review designs for compliance with applicable Federal and State standards, and with DOA Design Guidelines and Standards where appropriate.
This individual will serve in the role of Design Manager when so assigned by the Engineering Director. This role provides key review and oversight for specific projects, when the design is performed by outside consultants.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related area. 10 year's of progressively responsible design experience covering buildings, bridges and other miscellaneous structural forms.
Preferred Education and Experience
Masters degree in Civil Engineering. Professional Engineer registration in Georgia. Strong fundamentals of civil engineering, specifically, pavement, utilities, drainage, large-scale hydrology, earthwork, road design. Thorough familiarity with FAA design circulars. Twenty plus years experience with hands-on airport/airfield design. Working knowledge of City of Atlanta contracts/procurement procedures. Ability to handle conflicting project demands, set priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A minimum of 20 years’ verifiable experience in the practice of Structural Engineering.
This position requires a current Professional Engineer’s License, issued by the state Of Georgia.
Licensures and Certifications
Professional engineering certification required. Valid State Issued Drivers License required.
