Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Aviation, this position assists in the daily operation of the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. Duties include ensuring that the Department of Aviation and its' tenants are in compliance with federal, state, local and/or county regulations for the safe and orderly operation of the airport. Position is subject to twenty-four (24) hour work availability, including shift work, weekends, holidays, emergency calls, inclement weather, and special events. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
-Performs daily inspections of airside, landside, and terminal building at the airport to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. -Tests, evaluates, and reports runway conditions to Air Traffic Control during inclement weather. -Have a good understanding of the needs and concerns of the various airport users, including aircraft operators, concessionaires, FBO, and the general public.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management or a related field, with two years of experience at a commercial service airport preferred. NIMS ICS (National Incident Management System Incident Command System) 100, 200, 700, and 800 series training required or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire. American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Certified Member (CM) Airport Certified Employee (Ace), Ace Operations and Security, Airport Security Coordinator certificate, and Private Pilot's License preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License required. Must be able to pass a TSA background check for airport badging.
