The Des Moines Airport Authority is hiring several Airport Operations Coordinator II’s, this is a new position. This position works under the general supervision of the Airport Operations & Security Manager. Airport Operations Coordinator II’s serve as the central point of monitoring and communications for the Airport while working in a 24/7/365 Airport Operations Center. Additionally, they assist Operations Supervisors daily. Primary duties of this position include ensuring compliance with federal regulations including 139 and 1542, inspecting non-movement and landside facilities and pavement, monitoring construction activities, wildlife control, snow removal coordination, safety and security inspections, monitoring equipment and system status indicators and alarms, monitoring surveillance camera systems, access control systems, fire systems, building systems, weather, gate management system, and safety systems. Additional duties include monitoring radio communications, dispatching personnel and equipment, handling emergency communication coordination, answering phone calls, completing daily logs, and coordinating activities with Airport Operations Supervisors on shift.
Airport Operations Center Attendants work varying schedules including days, evening, holidays and weekends. Operations Center Attendants are subject to mandatory overtime. All applicants must posses the ability to follow written and verbal instructions with the extensive use of checklists, have the ability to maintain positive working relationships with other team members, use sound judgement during emergency situations, have a working knowledge of airport security rules and regulations, be able to communicate clearly, and be dependable.
Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Airway Science, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field preferred. One year of experience is preferred but this is an entry level operations position. Directly related professional experience in airport operations/security may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Applicants must be able to pass all background investigations to the satisfaction of the Authority and must hold a valid vehicle operators license.

Additional Salary Information: Starting range for external applicants offered between $40,214 to $48,257 depending on experience.
