Are you naturally good at installing and repairing complex technology? NDOT is seeking an Aviation Electronics Technician that is a passionate, motivated self-directed aviation enthusiast that wants to be part of something bigger than themselves. We’re looking for individuals with a high acumen for installing and repairing complex electronic equipment required for aviation navigation and weather reporting systems. The work is rewarding and involves working with communications, computers, navigational systems, visual aids and other electronic equipment both on and off airports within the National Air Space System.

The Aviation Electronics Technician will:

Use schematic diagrams, blueprint drawings, maintenance manuals and factory publications to operate, modify, test and repair complex electronic equipment required for aviation navigation and weather reporting systems.

Perform construction, installation, preventive maintenance inspection, analysis of meter readings, troubleshooting, repair or replacement of malfunctioning parts or equipment.

Possess knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software application.

Training or instruction and study of the navigational aids listed below, in order to obtain and maintain certifications required to install, maintain and repair these systems. Types of navigational aids includes: VHF Omnidirectional Radio Range [VOR], Nondirectional Radio Beacon [NDB], Distance Measuring Equipment [DME] and Automated Weather Observation Systems [AWOS].

Qualifications:

• Associates degree from a vocational technical program and 3 years of experience or 5 years of experience.
• Required to obtain an FCC General Radio Telephone operators license within six months.
• A solid concept of math and algebra.
• Valid driver’s license
• Overnight travel for multiple times a month

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment failures in a timely manner. Possess knowledge and ability to use, repair and maintain hand power tools. Read and understand schematics, construction plans and drawings. Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software application. A solid concept of math and algebra. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
