Established in 1940 by local business interests, the Washington County Airport has been under the jurisdiction of the County of Washington since 1955. It is a dynamic economic engine and regional aviation asset in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Located 30 miles south of Pittsburgh, the Airport is situated on 401 acres in South Franklin Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. It is one of the busiest general aviation airports in Western Pennsylvania with 50,000 annual operations. There are 85 based aircraft, 37 T-hangars, 10 corporate hangars and 7 aviation businesses. With a 5,004 foot runway, a parallel taxiway system, an Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) and an Instrument Landing System, the Airport has all-weather capabilities to accommodate all types of corporate and general aviation aircraft year around. The Washington County Airport provides a full range of aviation related services used by corporations, local businesses and the public, including fuel, charter, aircraft sales, major and minor maintenance, flight instruction, and aircraft storage/tiedown.
