The Terminal Director is responsible for leading and directing the operations and management of a commercial service airport terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Primary objectives involve ensuring that high levels of safety, security and customer service are provided and maintained.
The Terminal Director will lead a team of at least 20+ individuals involved in a variety of operational roles - including security, maintenance and operations.
Responsibilities also include developing terminal operations strategies, procedures and solutions through people, systems and processes.
The Terminal Director is responsible for liaising with all terminal stakeholders including air carriers, ground handlers, TSA, passengers and other service providers.
The Terminal Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining a positive corporate culture while developing individuals and encouraging career advancement within the Terminal Services operations.
Planning Bi-Weekly coordination meetings with Airline partners and stakeholders
Plan, organize, coordinate and direct, through subordinate managers, a comprehensive program in the operation of the South Terminal and its stakeholders
Counsel and coach team members and helps to foster a culture of ongoing feedback, collaboration, and coaching
Motivates and inspires team members to ensure the safety and security of the terminal and creates strategic initiatives to ensure everyone is aligned with organizational goals and objectives
Analyze operations and problems at the South Terminal, develop logical and effective solutions to such problems
Assists in developing, implementing, and updating, and overseeing adherence to the airport certification, emergency and security manuals, and programs as directed by the TSA Part 1542 and FAR Part 139
Deal tactfully and effectively with airport tenants, airline representatives, community leaders, business partners and the public
Establish Team Member recognition programs for terminal achievements, safety, performance, and revenue collect programs
Meet with clients, as requested, to enhance customer confidence, client rapport, and business integrity
Ensure compliance with staffing requirements and works with HR for workforce planning analysis
Attend industry meetings and interface with airport officials, DOA, and federal agencies(TSA)
Aggressively reduce overtime, payroll costs, and other operational costs
Establish effective and cost-efficient work schedules for all station Team Members
Responsible for maintaining, supporting, and improving the overall Terminal operation to support all business units of the company
Performs other duties as assigned
Inspire, lead, and motivate the terminal staff and its entire operation while adhering to our Core Values on a daily basis
Deliver superior operational performance by leading cross functional teams in the execution of efficient, safe and secure day-to-day operations
Provide knowledge, feedback and development to a team consisting of Operations Manager and Duty Managers
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing airports, security and land use
Extensive knowledge of contract formulation, negotiation processes, facilities planning and design, and purchasing/procurement practices
Knowledge of sound business practices, cost analysis methods, facilities management, building, grounds and equipment maintenance and staff supervision
Ability to interpret financial statements, and to prepare and present budgets
Knowledge of research methods and ability to write technical memorandums and other correspondence
Extensive Computer skills including familiarity with all Microsoft Office applications an G-Suite
Strong conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills
Experience managing and supervising others
Experience in airport or aviation related operations or management
Ability and desire to self-manage and complete tasks in a timely, focused and effective manner
Energetic and outgoing demeanor
Ability to adapt and respond to changing circumstances and emergencies
Five to Ten years direct experience in the management of an airport or aviation sub-component, or as the director of one or more major airport management functions.
Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, or a related field.
Certification as an Accredited Airport Executive with the American Association of Airport Executives is desirable, but not required.
Experience must include budget and fiscal oversight, evaluation of business processes, policy development and implementation, and decision-making experience with planning and organizing multiple projects, operations, or functions.
