As a Senior Environmental Management Specialist in Aviation, you will provide support to complete environmental analysis necessary for the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) review processes and any associated permitting for projects and programs at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). This will include documentation and research for a diverse array of environmental categories from simple project exemptions to complex environmental impacts statements. This position will be essential to the Port of Seattle’s Sustainable Airport Master Plan Near-Term Projects environmental review, one of the largest capital development programs in the region. You will work on an amazing team to support sustainability goals, planning studies, regulatory reform and other initiatives that support the Port’s goal to be the greenest Port in North America.  

• You will support environmental analysis across all environmental categories for the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) review processes. 
• You will prepare applications for both routine and moderately complex permits.
• You will develop scope, budget, and schedules for environmental studies evaluating impacts of projects and programs.
• You will communicate complex scientific findings and technical information to a diverse set of stakeholders at the Port of Seattle and the public. 
• You will facilitate public engagement for NEPA and SEPA through the solicitation of public comments. 
• You will engage with local, state, federal agencies, and tribes as necessary for permit acquisition. 
• You will coordinate with Port of Seattle Project Managers and stakeholders to ensure compliance with NEPA, SEPA, and other regulatory/permitting requirements.
• You will provide critical input to stakeholders throughout all stages of project development. This will include evaluating proposed actions, identifying potential environmental consequences, and determine appropriate level of environmental review and permitting required. 
• You will support other compliance and sustainability programs including the identification of opportunities to enhance environmental performance and equitable development principles within projects and programs.

• Experienced – You have two (2) years of experience in regulatory/permitting requirements in a variety of environmental disciplines. 
• Educated – You possess a Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Planning, Natural Science, Geography, or related field.
• Desired – We hope you have a general understanding and experience implementing NEPA and SEPA. A Project Management Professional (PMP).

• Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
• Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Flexible start and end times are available in this role. 
• Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment and may be occasionally outdoors in all types of inclement weather. This position will primary be at SEA, however there may be opportunities to work remotely as applicable. 
• Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than three (3) years.
• Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
• COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement – Effective, November 15, 2021, the Port of Seattle will require that at the time of hire, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be able to provide proof of their full COVID-19 vaccination status, as part of the hiring process. This is a condition of employment for all positions at the Port of Seattle. • Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. 
• Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
