This job will works as an Airfield Maintenance Technician keeping the airport operating safely and efficiently. Ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations 1542 and 139. Responsible for mowing airfield, and providing maintenance of paved areas.
•Maintain the airfield in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration standards. Facilities include all runways, taxiways, ramps, airfield lighting, security gates and fences, roadways, safety areas, and associated navigation aids; •Repair and maintain paved surfaces on runways, taxiways, and aprons. Construct and maintain asphalt surfaces such as airfield roads. Operate equipment to perform snow and ice removal; •Performs field maintenance on airport facilities by cleaning, mowing, edging, trimming and repairing runways, taxiways, entrance roads, and access roads; inspects and repairs signs on taxiways, runways, service roads, streets and the terminal building; communicates with operations and control tower by radio when working in the aircraft operating area; and maintain electrical fixtures in operating conditions.
Minimum qualifications & Requirements
Graduation from high school or equivalent, experience in airport building and grounds maintenance work and operation of light to heavy duty automotive vehicles and construction equipment; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
Considerable knowledge of the proper procedures, techniques, tools, and equipment used in the physical maintenance of buildings and grounds. Knowledge of airport traffic regulation and the practices followed in the care and operation of a variety of maintenance equipment.
Ability to keep records in an organized manner.
Ability to work with the public in a courteous manner in response to complaints or requests for service.
Knowledge of principles of operations of motor equipment sufficient to detect defective operation and perform preventive maintenance work.
Ability to understand/carry out, or give oral and written instructions, including the ability to read and interpret simple plans and specifications.
1-2 years’ experience in building or construction and general maintenance.
Experience working with Tractors, bush hogs, fork lifts, zero turn mowers.
Experience working in one of the following specializations: Electrical, HVAC, or Plumbing
Secondary education or training in Facilities Maintenance
Requires the ability to lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 30 pounds.
Job functions require sitting for extended periods, but also involve standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, walking, carrying, and reaching.
Extensive wrist and hand movements required for frequent keyboarding and use of office equipment.
Ability to perform close work to file, read and use computer required.
Ability to continuously exchange information through listening and talking with customers, coworkers, representatives of community organizations and other individuals required.
Ability to be mobile community wide for appropriate business needs required.
