NOTE: Highly preferred - Currently enrolled in or graduated from the NFA's Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP). A physical exam that meets National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards will be required for those who are not currently employed with the Milwaukee County Fire Department.
Certifications:
- Airport Firefighter (NFPA 1003) or equivalent
- Fire Officer II (IFSAC/ProBoard or equivalent
- Fire Instructor II (IFSAC/ProBoard or equivalent
- Hazmat Operations
- ICS: 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 or equivalents.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of all related computer and software applications such Microsoft Office as well as Web based applications for tracking response data. Skilled at internal and frequent external communication; gathering information, answering queries, and building strong working relationships. A good command of public speaking and information sharing. Read, analyze, and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedural manuals, business manuals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Draft routine reports. Regularly make decisions of responsibility, involving evaluation of information. Decisions may require development or application of alternatives or precedents. Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
Note: This Original Examination is open to all qualified candidates of the United States. In accordance Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources to rank applicants on the eligible list for this position.
