Oversees operational, safety and security needs of the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS), Destin Executive Airport (DTS) and Bob Sikes Airport (CEW) (collectively, the “Airports”); ensures day-to-day operational effectiveness and compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 139 and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations.

Bachelor's degree in aviation management or related field supplemented by minimum five years, consisting of four years of progressively responsible experience at a commercial (Part 139) service or military joint-use airport with an FAA operating certificate, with at least two years in a supervisory/management capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and related forms of documentation.

Licenses and/or Certifications: Requires successful completion of FAA security background check prior to employment. Requires Airport Security Coordinator (“ASC”) designation within sixty days of hire. Requires a valid driver license.

Office location is at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport, with duties at both Destin Executive Airport and Bob Sikes Airport.  Interviews can be accommodated via Zoom and will be scheduled based on availability, between the hours of 9am-4pm Central Time, Monday - Friday.

The Okaloosa County Human Resources Department coordinates job postings and applicant screening for the Airports Department, while interviews are conducted by members of the Airports team.
