Required Education:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Licensing And Other Requirements

  Special Requirements
  Applicants must be able to pass:
  • City of Boise background check processes including a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
  • Driving Record Check
  • Transportation Security Administration background check (SIDA)  
  • Drug-Free Workplace: In accordance with the City of Boise Drug-Free Workplace Regulation, this position is designated as safety-sensitive and is subject to testing requirements including Post Offer Applicant Testing, Random Testing, Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, etc. Applicants will be required to submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to hire. Appointment to this position is contingent upon a negative pre-employment drug test.  
  Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
  • Experience conducting FAA FAR 139 and TSA 1542 Compliance Inspections 
  • Experience as a pilot, crew member, flight dispatcher, or military experience 
  • One or more of the following certifications:
    • American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) training/credentials including “Airport Certified Employee” (ACE)
    • Basic or Advanced “Airport Safety and Operations Specialists” (ASOS) Certification
    • FEMA NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800 Certification
  In addition to the above-mentioned requirements, the Operations Specialist II position also requires:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Airport Management, Aviation Science, Business, Public Administration or closely related field 
  • 1 year of experience in airport operations or administration including demonstrated experience conducting FAR 139 airfield inspections 
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience 
  • Maintain annual qualification standards with firearms and pyrotechnics
