The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading the airport operations team ( 8-10 staff) that oversee the day-to-day operations of the Wilmington International Airport on a 24-hour basis to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration regulations pertaining to airport operations and maintenance. Periodically inspects airport facilities, including runways, taxiways, ramps, perimeter barriers and buildings, records discrepancies and arranges for corrective action. Issues appropriate notices to airmen (NOTAMS) when hazards exist and initiate closure of all or parts of the airport if necessary. Responds to aircraft accident/incident and other emergency situations that occur on airport property; coordinates related activities, implements emergency or security plan measures until relieved by higher authority. Implement and coordinate snow removal activities in accordance with airport snow removal plan. Observes airport tenants activity to ensure compliance with operational provisions of lease documents. Monitor and control ground transportation and public parking activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars, FAR Parts 77, and 139, TSR Parts 1500, 1520, 1540, 1542, and 1544;
Knowledge of Class I commercial airport and general aviation airports principles, best practices and operations;
Knowledge of airport facilities, equipment, and tenant operations;
Ability to coordinate airport certification program requirements with outside agencies and;
Ability to drive and communicate in an airport environment under positive control of the Air Traffic Control Tower;
Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks;
Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written procedures and/or oral instructions;
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using both technical and nontechnical language;
Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines;
