Education, Experience and/or Training
Bachelor's degree in airport or aviation administration, business administration, aeronautical or civil engineering or a related field with more than five years of progressive, high-level airport management experience with a commercial air carrier airport. Experience needs to show relevance & knowledge in airport operations (landside & airside), safety, customer service, and facility maintenance/operations. Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) designation is desirable.
Position requires computer operations experience, including strong working knowledge of email, word processing and spreadsheet applications (Microsoft products desirable).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of management principles and practices as applied to airport operations, maintenance, planning, and facility development.
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, and State of Illinois rules and regulations affecting airport operations, maintenance, and construction.
- Knowledge of airport construction and equipment.
- Ability to plan and conduct airport operations, maintenance, and development programs.
- Ability to select and train operational and maintenance staff.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, airport tenants, employees, and the public.
- Must possess general knowledge of federal and state environmental compliance regulations affecting airport operations and planning.
- Ability to work under conditions which require exposure to environmental factors such as temperature variations and extremes, loud sounds, odors, toxic agents, machinery, traffic hazards, wetness and/or dust.
- Ability to use functional reasoning and apply rational judgment in performing diversified work activities.
- Maintains confidentiality of personal information obtained during badging process, and medical information obtained in the performance of the duties.
Required Special Qualifications
- Pass a pre-hire drug screen and random alcohol and drug testing.
- Pass federal fingerprint based criminal history background check.
- Must possess a valid unrestricted driver’s license.
