MidAmerica St. Louis Airport (BLV) is recruiting for the position of ASSISTANT AIRPORT DIRECTOR. Under general direction of the Airport Director and through subordinate personnel, plans, organizes, and directs the day-to-day activities of all maintenance, operations, and public safety functions of the Airport. This position coordinates related activities with all tenants, federal, state, local agencies, and other related aviation user groups. Functional areas of responsibility include Maintenance, Operations, Public Safety (contracted) and FBO services (contracted) activities/operations.

Education, Experience and/or Training Bachelor's degree in airport or aviation administration, business administration, aeronautical or civil engineering or a related field with more than five years of progressive, high-level airport management experience with a commercial air carrier airport. Experience needs to show relevance & knowledge in airport operations (landside & airside), safety, customer service, and facility maintenance/operations. Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) designation is desirable.
Position requires computer operations experience, including strong working knowledge of email, word processing and spreadsheet applications (Microsoft products desirable).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of management principles and practices as applied to airport operations, maintenance, planning, and facility development.
Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, and State of Illinois rules and regulations affecting airport operations, maintenance, and construction.
Knowledge of airport construction and equipment.
Ability to plan and conduct airport operations, maintenance, and development programs.
Ability to select and train operational and maintenance staff.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, airport tenants, employees, and the public.
Must possess general knowledge of federal and state environmental compliance regulations affecting airport operations and planning.
Ability to work under conditions which require exposure to environmental factors such as temperature variations and extremes, loud sounds, odors, toxic agents, machinery, traffic hazards, wetness and/or dust.
Ability to use functional reasoning and apply rational judgment in performing diversified work activities.
Maintains confidentiality of personal information obtained during badging process, and medical information obtained in the performance of the duties.
Required Special Qualifications
Pass a pre-hire drug screen and random alcohol and drug testing.
Pass federal fingerprint based criminal history background check.
Must possess a valid unrestricted driver’s license.

MidAmerica St. Louis Airport (BLV) is located in Mascoutah, Illinois, in the eastern portion of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Passenger service to almost a dozen different destinations is offered by Allegiant. Major multimodal rail and inland port centers are located within 22 miles of the airport, which also enjoys easy access to five interstate highways via I-64.
BLV is a Joint Use Airport partnering with Scott AFB, the home to US Transportation Command, a multi service organization, and Air Mobility Command, the USAF’s component command for airlift. MidAmerica and the 375th Air Mobility Wing operate Scott AFB/MidAmerica St. Louis Airport. BLV is one of only 21 joint use airports in the nation (10 Air Force; 10 Army; 1 Navy).
