SUMMARY: Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Operations Department and airport operations on an assigned shift, including nights, week-ends and holidays, ensuring compliance with FAR Part 139. Directly supervises Airport Operations Coordinators.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for airfield safety including but not limited to identifying, preventing, responding to and/or removing all hazards to aviation including FOD, wildlife, AOA incursions, unauthorized vehicles and pedestrian entry, and disabled aircraft.
Make inspections and maintain a record of all aeronautical areas including pavement, markings, lighting, safety areas, wildlife, construction, emergency equipment and fueling practices to ensure compliance with FAR Part 139.
Responsible for supervising snow removal operations with airport operations and airport maintenance on his or her assigned shift.
Responsible for the issuance of all applicable NOTAMS.
Acts as a liaison with Air Traffic Control, Teterboro Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting group and all responding agencies during airport emergencies.
Comply with wildlife control procedures outlined in the current TEB Wildlife Hazard Management Plan (WHMP), which includes, but is not limited to the use of firearms.
Coordinates construction and maintenance on or near the airport to ensure minimum interference with the airport operations.
Supports all applicable requirements under all Safety Management Systems including tasks, documentation and written and practical tests.
Conducts tenant AOA driver training and auditing compliance.
Performs hourly weather observations.
Maintains a working knowledge of all applicable FAR’s and Advisory Circulars.
Ensures the recording of all aircraft operations for purposes of billing and noise abatement compliance.
Assures compliance with Company policies and procedures; takes disciplinary action as required.
Identifies and to extent possible resolves any hazard to airport operations.
Supervises and coordinates any contract services related to airport operations.
Monitors, to the extent possible, noise abatement practices of aircraft utilizing the airport to ensure compliance with existing requirements.
Monitoring and operating phones, radios, and security camera and gate systems.
Responsible for maintaining customer contacts through positive lines of communication by professionally representing the company through frequent and meaningful contact with the customer.
Supports all associated requirements under Quality Management System including tasks, documentation and written and practical tests
Represents the Manager, Airport Services in routine operational matters.
Perform other duties related to the above.
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or related field.
Prior work experience in airport operations and/or airline operations; pilot certification preferred.
Demonstrates supervisory capability.
A thorough knowledge of/or experience in general aviation.
Through in-house training or through training arranged by Avports must be able to become certified in the following areas:
Airport related snow removal technique - within one-hundred-eighty (180) days of employment.
Operation of snow removal equipment - within one-hundred-eighty (180) days of employment.
Certification in weather observations -within one-hundred-twenty (120) days of employment.
Acquires all licenses and/or certifications currently required or as may be required by regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, weather observer certification.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and sustain a valid driver’s license in the person’s state of residence and maintain driver record compatible with Company’s insurance company’s criteria.
Through appropriate training, must be able to qualify for performance weather observations, and ability to operate heavy equipment including but not limited to snow removal vehicles and forklifts.
Ability to perform the duties of this classification.
Individual must be willing and be able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work in and support a teamwork environment, including the airport’s Safety Management System.
Ability to work in a teamwork environment and support Avports’ Quality Management System registered to ANSI/ISO/ASQ Q9001-2015 or related standard.
Strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize programs such as MS Excel and MS Word with ability to learn new programs introduced in the future.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
