The Terminal Operations Controller serves as the primary point of contact (POC) for daily air carrier operations at the airport, coordinating terminal and ramp usage, gate assignments, and deicing activities. Responsibilities include real-time adjustments to gate and aircraft parking, ensuring accurate flight information displays, monitoring terminal occupancy for safety compliance, and supporting contingency plans. The position works with the Airport Security Coordinator on compliance with security requirements, coordinates emergency medical responses, monitors access control, and documents incidents. Shift work, mandatory overtime, and close communication with airline and ATC staff are essential for maintaining safe, efficient ramp operations.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in airport management preferred. • Previous experience in airport operations or related field preferred. • Demonstrated ability to operate in a complex environment without direct supervision. • Previous experience in the performance of airport emergency planning. • Must possess effective public communications, written and verbal skills. • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and sustain a valid driver’s license in the person’s state of residence and maintain driver record compatible with Company’s insurance company’s criteria. • Must be able to pass required drug screenings and security clearances.
• Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as scheduled. • Extended shifts and/or callbacks may be necessary. Periodic shift rotation can be anticipated to maintain familiarity with all operational situations. • Ability to possess ramp, airport, and aircraft knowledge and qualifications.
