Manages the division to include hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating, disciplining, and labor relations. Manages budget control of a $6 million budget. Manages customer relations. Uses initiative, discretion and independent judgment within the policy framework of City rules and regulations and the Local 500 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Manages the grounds at MCI on both air and land side; including maintenance, repairs and construction to the airports’ terminal exteriors, airfield, streets, exterior lighting, pavement markings, informational and regulatory signage, landscape, and storm drainage. Maintains and repairs video security cameras and access control components, audio messaging, radio communication equipment. Operates security gates, all airfield lighting and signage, commercial power distribution equipment, and concrete and asphalt repairs. Coordinates with the Engineering Division on construction and improvements to ensure results are acceptable and sustainable from a maintenance aspect. Responsible for all airfield snow removal operations during emergency events. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRES an accredited bachelor’s degree and 5 years of managing a division, section or program within airport operations, airport regulatory compliance, or oversight of building and/or construction operations at an airport; OR high school graduation and 9 years of managing a division, section or program within airport operations, airport regulatory compliance, or oversight of building and/or construction operations at an airport. Must successfully complete a TSA criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screen.
Must have a good background as it relates to airfield/pavement maintenance per FAR Part 139; maintenance equipment and landscaping.
Must pass 10-year TSA Background Check.
Must be available 24/7 for emergencies and inclement weather events.
