The County of Volusia is seeking an Administrative Specialist (Working Title: Projects & Maintenance Administration Coordinator) for the Department of Aviation & Economic Resources, located at the Daytona Beach International Airport. This position entails progressively responsible work on a professional level performing a variety of operational and managerial tasks related to specialized administrative work in support of the Airport Manager of Projects & Maintenance, construction contracts, grants and project administration and operating/capital budgeting. This position may supervise two contracted employees. The incumbent will manage and execute tasks related to work of a specialized administrative nature requiring assisting and managing a variety of work activities related to the program administration of, planning and programming, contract administration, grant management, project administration, and operating/capital budgeting finance and accounting management.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Aviation Management, Financial or related field, and two (2) years administrative experience or equivalent experience. A comparable amount of education, training and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements if the following conditions are met: - the comparable experience, training and/or education has a direct relationship to the duties of the position being advertised; and – qualifying comparable are provided by the appointing authority prior to the position's advertisement and/or request for an eligibility list. The preferred candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and previous experience with grant administration.
License/Certification: Florida’s Driver’s License (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
Note: Must be able to successfully complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and drug test as a condition of employment for obtaining an Airport issued badge.
