The County of Santa Clara is seeking a Director of County Airports to oversee the operation and administration of Reid Hillview Airport in San Jose and San Martin Airport in South Santa Clara County. Reporting to the Director of Roads and Airports, the incumbent will be responsible for formulating and implementing airport operating policies, interpreting and enforcing rules, planning for facility needs, managing budgets, and coordinating programs with various agencies. The Director will also handle citizen inquiries, represent the Department in the community and other agencies, evaluate capital projects, and supervise subordinate personnel. Additionally, the role involves reviewing legislation affecting airports and aviation activities. The ideal candidate will have a degree in business or public administration, with at least five years of administrative experience, including two years in airport management. Accreditation by the American Association of Airport Executives is highly desirable.
Graduation from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or a closely related field
Five years of responsible administrative experience, including two years in airport management
Knowledge of public administration, business management, budgeting, airport service and facility management, and FAA regulations
Ability to plan and develop airport programs, negotiate contracts, supervise employees, and maintain effective relationships
The mission of the Santa Clara County Roads and Airport Department is to preserve, operate, maintain and enhance the County's expressways, unincorporated roads, and two general aviation airports in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner to meet the needs of the traveling public.
The County Airports Administration operates and maintains the County's two general aviation airports at Reid-Hillview (RHV) in San Jose, and San Martin (E16) - comprised of 5 miles of runways and taxiways, 244 aircraft hangars, 305 aircraft tie-down storage spaces.
