The Assistant Director of Field Maintenance plays a key leadership role in overseeing all aspects of the Field Maintenance and Fleet Operations department at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. Responsible for ensuring compliance with FAR Part 139, CFR 1540-1542, and other regulatory requirements, while managing Field Maintenance airside and landside maintenance programs, including the snow and ice control plan. The role leads departmental coordination during airport emergency responses.
Collaborates with the Director, Maintenance Services and Asset Management, the Assistant Director develops departmental goals and objectives, contributes to the preparation and administration of the operating and capital equipment budgets, presents information regarding the department to MAC Commission, and supports the implementation of the department’s annual strategic plan. A comprehensive understanding of airport operations and strong collaboration skills are essential, as this position regularly engages with other MAC departments, FAA divisions, airlines, tenants, and external agencies to ensure safe and efficient airport operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Business, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and full-time professional experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position
Five years of experience managing airport operations or airside/landside maintenance operations
Three years of experience managing and supervising direct reports which includes responsibility for hiring, coaching, rewarding, disciplining and terminating employees
Knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to airport operations
Clear, concise, thorough and persuasive presentation, facilitation, negotiation, verbal and electronic communication skills
Strong writing skills for composing memos, policies, procedures, proposals, reports, and other specifications
Proven history of effective interpersonal communication, collaboration and listening skills to work with a variety of leaders, managers, employees and work groups inside and outside of MAC
Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent decision making, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Ability to respond to emergencies or snow events during off hours
